Osilio delivers Information Management in their
new product: IM-in-a-BOX
Osilio will specifically
address the information and meta-data management as well
as ease of use and maintainability weaknesses with its
new and comprehensive Information Management in a Box.
The IM-in-a-Box solution will offer the ability to
create a comprehensive run-time information model of the
business within an objective business language for an
organisation’s various departments.
Using semantics and
ontologies, the solution allows different departments to
be modelled according to their own internal structure
and then mapped to the underlying assets. Various models
can then be mapped to each other for a single
consolidated virtual view of the information in the
business. This is a highly effective model for both
integration as well as business intelligence.
Says Craig Martin, Director
of the newly-founded Osilio, “IM-in-a-Box will enable
disparate business domains within organisations, like a
bank’s retail branch and home loan divisions, to model
their respective businesses in their own fashion with
immediate traceability to the underlying business and
technical assets within the organisation.”
This creates a consolidated
view that caters for the various semantics that exist
between the two divisions - a virtual information
warehouse. Not only does this give the company an
accurate business representation, but also gives the
underlying integration technologies a single view of
this organisational semantic metadata with which to
interact with.
“IM-in-a-Box interacts with
a very real integration runtime to bring value to the
implementation timeline as well,” says Martin. “This
vastly streamlines the systems integration process,
reduces the overall cost between 30 to 60 per cent, and
reduces time to delivery for these complex solutions.”
The IM-in-a-Box solution
will also leverage the Synap-c Business Development
Environment Suite, Knotion's flagship enterprise
modelling product. Synap-c allows for the semantic
modelling of businesses according to any structure and
standard and the sharing of this across enterprises and
industries to develop packaged intelligent solutions.
The integration enabler will
initially be the Fiorano Enterprise Services Bus. Osilio
have chosen to conclude an agreement with the
multinational integration software company, Fiorano, to
become partners for the local Southern and Sub-Saharan
African market.
Although IM-in-a-Box
utilises the Fiorano Service Oriented Architecture and
Enterprise Services Bus Platform as the initial
integration operational runtime, optional integration
components to other existing suites, in particular
SeeBeyond and WBI, will also be made available.
Says Stephen Mahoney,
director of Osilio, “We have a lot of confidence in the
Fiorano product since we have worked with all the major
players in the integration space and have found Fiorano
to be functionally on a par with these players.
“However, we believe that
Fiorano offers a lower total cost of ownership and is a
whole lot simpler to implement. As integration service
providers, our clients require rapid time to market,
complementary standards-based architectures that
leverage their existing infrastructure, as well as a
meaningful roadmap for increasing integration across the
enterprise. We have found the Fiorano ESB to be such an
architecture and are happy to position it as part and
parcel of the IM offering.”
